SUPPORTOURTROOPSWELCOMESend our troops a package of things they need and let them know we support them. It's easy, inexpensive, and will bless these men and women who are sacrificing to protect us in this war against terror. Let's share our blessings with these very special men and women! We encourage folks to consider sending a package a month so there's a consistent flow of support. Thanksgiving & Christmas Holidays are wonderful times to share with our troops in harm's way. It will be a lonely time for them - away from family and friends this time of the year. Brighten their day with a package from home! Read about the big MOAS effort in November, under "Conduct S.O.T. Drive", left. ***10-17-08 - Please note the US Army addresses in Iraq have been deleted, since the units have returned, or are soon to return, to the US. We still support a Marine unit there until 12-15-08. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ***10-15-08 - We have added addresses for three units serving in Afghanistan (two Infantry Battalions and a Calvary Squadron). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*** See pictures from these units rcvd. 11-7-08, under "News Fm Troops", left.
Please consider "networking" to encourage SOT support. We all belong to Associations, churches, Bible studies, organizations, clubs, homeowner's groups, etc. Consider mentioning the needs of our troops and ask members to help. And, family members will often come aboard and help. It's important that we regularly look for ways to expand the SOT base of support; the need is urgent. New larger (12' X 12" X 5-1/2") APO/FPO Flat Rate Priority Mail boxes are now specifically available to send to APO/FPO addresses in support of our SOT program. Cost is $10.95. See the "How To Send" page, on the left, for full details. We no longer recommend the smaller boxes in previous use, since there has been a significant price increase. THEY'VE ASKED FOR OUR PRAYERS
"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen." Recently, one soldier asked that, along with our prayers for the Troops, we include prayers for the "most innocent victims of this conflict", the Iraqi children, who "may never know what it is to be free of fear". UPDATE - "Operation Soccer Ball" - June 2006 - Army units have now received hundreds of soccer balls to pass out to Iraqi schools and youth activities. See Operation Soccer Ball for details and an update to the S-O-T Program. Still time for you to help! Also, see a recent picture of Iraqi children playing with our balls! Also, see the new "thank you" letters from Army and Marine units in "Feedback Fm Troops". There is a special March 2006 award to Sarasota for the support we've sent! It means a lot to our troops to receive a package from home! Please consider setting up an S-O-T Display in your foyer, such as the one at the MOAS Luncheon, and at churches such as Covenant Life Presbyterian Church, as shown on the S-O-T Display page. It simply consists on an S-O-T Display Board, information sheets, Priority Mail boxes and labels. This will be a big help, by making resources easily available to participating church members. (Addresses of church members within the war zone should be included.) And we'll be happy to help you set it up. Many thanks! Contact Information BG (Ret) James M.
